I was born and raised in Canada but have lived in London for the last eighteen years.
I still think of myself as Canadian but less adamantly then I did 10 years ago. However, I know all the words to songs by Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, and The Barenaked Ladies.
Luckily my sister lives here too, only about 15 minutes walk away. My entire social life revolves around the local cafe where I have my cappuccino (large and skinny please) every weekday morning, with my chums. Due to my fear of telephones and general laziness, I won't see you unless you come to my cafe at 9:00. Fortunately most of my friends do.
When I was nine years old I crocheted the Italian flag for a geography project.
I have never stopped making things since.
How do I make a living? Well, my husband provides a good portion of it while I look after the kids and drink coffee.
I have also written and contributed to numerous craft books and magazines. I teach courses and I sell stuff, mainly through commissions. This brings in a little money but as the kids get older (now 11 and 14) and the economy gets crunchier, I need to get more work.
I wish I could stick to doing one thing but I frequently get distracted by new passions. My husband says I have a whim of iron.
I think I really want to be a painter.
No wait, maybe I really want to be felting.
I'll let you know when I finally grow up and decide. In the mean time you might like to look at my blog. It's very colourful!
