When a woman says, "I don't wish to mention any names," it's not necessary to mention any names.
Kin Hubbard
I love that quote; I love gossip! The life blood of our community in spite of what Goldie Hawn may have to say. People and their doings are so interesting and you don't need to be nasty.
Today's post is a bit of a cheat because although it's a new picture, same subject as last photo.
The difference is I finally bought a lighting kit! I can't tell you how excited I am!
Also, I thought I'd answer the question about what my dolls are made of. Soft sculpture with fabric skin is the short answer.
I've always loved making dolls but it's a bit of a covert activity for me. Guilty secrets.
Why guilty? Well, I don't want to be mean, but there's a lot of hideous "doll art" out there. I'm very particular about being lumped in with it.
Sounds like I'm a snob, eh? I don't want to be. I like that people do it and think they should carry on making whatever feels good but...
I don't know. Maybe that's why I'm not very out about my dolls - I have unresolved ambivalence about the art doll world. Please let me know what you think. It might help me to clarify my ideas.
You Americans are so lucky! You have legal Pandora radio. I think it's the best thing to happen to music! Anyone outside America has to be a bit crafty to get it. Name one thing we have in the UK that you can't get in the US.
Who would like a post card of my Fool Tarot card? I've got five to offer to the first five people to leave comments on this post. I might throw in a few paper goodies too.
I'd loove a post card, but I have to think about the doll making a bit before answering - or read it again to get what you mean I think. :-)

Hanna, Your blog won't let me talk to you. I need your address.

juju darling. i couldn't agree with you more. there are dolls and there are dolls. -- if you know what i mean --.
anyway - i think your dolls are splendiferous. they have attitude and reflect your style so they work. it is the artwork in anyform which seems forced or overly sweet which just don't cut it for me. i can appreciate someones hard work and like you feel that if they like it well ooooki doki, but i doesn't always make it art.
ok, now there i went and said it.
would love a fool card cause i am one.

You've got me thinking about dolls and my own feelings (old and new on them)...but I too might have to get back to you. However, if they're still available, I'd love a fool card as well.

rats! looks like I am no 6.
Your thoughts on dolls are very much like mine. there is a lot out there that simply leave me cold or I find a little creepy as they are soooo realistic. But then I will chance across something a little different, more creative and it will resinate with me, and I find myself saying yes yes yes thats it, and I suspect from what I see of your dolls, you fit in to the latter catagory for me.
The only thing I can think of that is in this country and not in the US, is a bluebell wood, does that count?

Would a doll making book be in the works?

I linked my way here to your blog and I am just loving your post and your dolls. I, too, can be a bit of a.......well...selective sort when it comes to dolls. I am really drawn into these three of yours and I am looking forward to the process which I hope you will share with us. To see them be created, each already having a personality, will be delightful. The one on the left seems artistic, the middle one seems dreamy, maybe a dancer, the one on the right appears to be knowing, or even mischievious. I also know you don't have any more Fool cards, but if you would like an exchange of sorts in the future, take a look at my blog, I have more of my "Blue" post cards and would love to swap with other "like-minded" spirits. ~ Cindy
