I think we agree, the past is over. George W. Bush
Quilting thoughts continue...
Firstly, on the Japanese fabrics issue, it seems that they definitely have access to some great fabric prints that we can't get on this side of the world.
Those all came from shop colors with be*mused help. She doesn't think they sell internationally. But if anyone out there can read Japanese or lives in Japan and wants to make a deal let me know.
But I did find some great fabrics at Equilter. I don't usually look at their novelty sections so I was surprised to find some I really liked. These will do nicely.
I have more to say on quilting but I will leave it for another day. I have to finish this damn book. Almost done. A week this Friday and I will have sent the manuscript away and I can play with fabric and dolls again.
Today's inspiration: Crazy quilts without embroidery. I don't like the Victoriana thing but I like the patchwork. Quilts like this one:
Likes: The day when everyone in my family goes back to work/school and I'm in the house alone. That'll be tomorrow!
Dislikes: Facial spots. I know they're a kind of polka dot but...I thought I was too old!
What a wonderful project for 2007. Happy New Year!

I'm so happy you got a chance to see the fabric at International and e-quilter. I'm sure that whatever you choose to do it will be spectacular. That Susan McCord book is great. Not usually a crazy quilt fan but the workmanship is something wonderful to admire.

Your likes and dislikes thingy is so cool - like climbing in your head for a moment! I am absolutely LUSTING for that moment that you are getting tommorrow. I won't get it until next Monday ...
Happy New Year to you and yours!

Have you looked at Reprodepot and superbuzzy? Both places are here in the US and carry Japanese fabrics.
It is interesting that they have so many English and French "words" in print, unlike us. I too have been looking - I now buy words whenever I find them. The French have some great prints also but those I only find at Quilt Festival darn!
Have fun! And you might want to add ribbons between the fabrics instead of the embroidery work (by the way - try silk ribbon work - quick, great results, easy to learn and worth the look I think...yea a CQer here!)

Hi,
this is my first time to leave a comment, but I have been impressed with how cute your blog is and how much of great information you give through here. I love those two online shops you introduced. I have to buy some fabric there right away!
By the way, I am Japanese and I'm fluent in Japanese. I buy japanese craft books and fabric from japanese websites all the time. I usually ask my family to ship stuff for me. Let me know if I could help at all.
Also, here is a website that sells cute fabric that I recently shopped.

Hi there - I stumbled across your blog whilst trying to find a particular fabric. I have some Japanese sites that I have contacted, who will do international shipping (I live in Australia). I have not yet purchased any fabric from them due to being broke! but they were very obliging and eager in their responses. I don't speak any Japanese, but if I'm excited enough about the website, I send an email - I also find it easier to find my way around the web 'untranslated', as using a translation engine renders the text unintelligible.
Here they are:

On-travelling has nice fabrics, buttons, kits and other things. The person who responded to my email is Fukushima Madoka
Here are a couple of ebay sites which are in English:

I have bought quite a bit of fabric from this site (the seller's name is Naoko) and she seems to be prepared to source items that are hard to find. Great site, and is regularly updated.

I haven't yet bought anything from this store, but I will be!

The fabric here is gorgeous, and the seller's name is Megumi, and she is very helpful, although again, I have not had the chance (money!) to purchase anything. Her email address is: [email protected] and she accepts paypal.
Now if someone could help me to source some of this fabric, I would be delighted!! The fabric is called MechatanoWorld and the designer is YOSHIKAZU TAKAI.
Thanks, Marg!
